Nancy Standlee

Nancy Standlee, a contemporary artist whose vibrant and intricate artworks reflect a profound exploration of color, texture, and form, stands at the forefront of the modern art scene. With a background in graphic design and a lifelong passion for creativity, Standlee’s artistic journey is characterized by a relentless pursuit of innovation and self-expression. Through her use of bold, saturated hues and intricate layering techniques, she creates dynamic compositions that pulsate with energy and vitality. Drawing inspiration from a diverse array of materials and techniques, including collage, printmaking, and mixed media, she creates multi-dimensional works that blur the boundaries between painting and sculpture. Our students will create their own mixed media collage with a variety of materials, similar to Standlee’s style!

Let’s cheer up any space with this expressive face planter, which can be multipurpose for plants or small trinkets for everyday use. This week in Art Ability Ceramic Class, our students will learn various sculpting techniques (punching, scoring, and slipping) to create their planter. We will finish our pieces by introducing a new color slip handmade by our ceramic instructor.
