Art:
Paul Cezzane
Chalk pastels/Colored pencils

Cézanne’s art applied a technique known as “passage,” where he used brushstrokes of varying colors and values to create a sense of depth and volume. His use of color was both logical and expressive, with his palette featuring subtle gradations and contrasts that built a sense of structure. Cézanne’s work spans a range of subjects, including landscapes, still lifes, and portraits. His still lifes, such as those featuring fruit and household objects, showcase his ability to represent the physical reality and texture of everyday items with remarkable clarity and precision. In the spirit of fall approaching, our students will be using Cézanne’s still-life techniques to create pumpkins!

Candy Corn Decor

For the start of October, we are creating many people’s favorite Halloween treat—CANDY CORN! Did you know that Candy Corn has its own holiday? It’s definitely not on Halloween; it’s actually on October 30th! This week in our Ceramic Art Ability class, our students will learn techniques like pinching, hollowing, and transforming their clay pieces into the famous cone shape of candy corn. For added creativity, our students will give their candy corn unique facial expressions while maintaining the traditional white, orange, and yellow appearance!

Music:
David Bowie

Dive into the world of David Bowie with our music class! Today, we’re exploring the life and legacy of this rock legend who changed music and fashion forever. From his debut album in 1967 to his iconic persona Ziggy Stardust, Bowie’s creativity knew no bounds. We’ll groove to hits like “Let’s Dance,” “Heroes,” and “Space Oddity,” and have fun with activities like finishing the lyrics, dancing to the beat, and playing Bowie Bingo.

Remember his words: “Make the best of every moment” as we celebrate his incredible impact on music and culture!
