Classes Of The Week: Caroline Duncan | Ceramic Coil Luminary | Whitney Houston
Caroline Duncan
Material: Oil Pastels
Caroline Duncan is an artist whose work has a unique blend of whimsy, nostalgia, and introspection. Drawing inspiration from her surroundings and personal experiences, Duncan’s art transports viewers to a world where imagination reigns supreme and ordinary moments are imbued with extraordinary meaning. Her paintings often feature scenes of rural life, populated by charming cottages, lush landscapes, and quaint village scenes. Through her use of vibrant colors and expressive brushwork, Duncan infuses these familiar settings with a sense of warmth and nostalgia, inviting viewers to linger and explore. Using oil pastel, our students will create a rural landscape with bright colors and plenty of flowers!

Let’s brighten our dark spaces with this beautiful, functional ceramic luminary! A luminary is a lovely way to display your ceramic skills. When lit with a small candle or tea light, these pieces come alive, emitting a warm glow that soothes the mind and enhances a cozy ambiance. Our students will create a step-by-step coil pot (which they can choose to smooth out) and removal techniques to make their luminaire!
